Project: Leiden-house (2005+2008)

Client: Scheen family
Site: Leiden, the Netherlands
Size: 225 m2

We developed this family-house with the GOZO design-group (Bernard Heersche, Rob Appels, Stan van der Maas, Sander Troost) for the competition BouwMij Leiden 2005 within the masterplan by MVRDV. As the plot is very straight (6m.), we focussed on a central circulation-area penetrating the entire house, providing light, energy-saving techniques and spatial quality. Our proposal was indicated by the jury within the final selection. In 2008, a couple saw and liked the scale-model that is still on exposition. They asked more information about the house and the spaces inside, and therefore we developed a series of explanatory 3d views. In the end they desisted because the urban plan doesn’t provide space for a private garden.
