Project: Faculty of Architecture Delft University (competition entry 2008)
Site: Delft, the Netherlands
Projectteam: Sander Troost, Yorik van Havre, Maira Zasso
For the competition for the new Faculty of Architecture in Delft, we developed a proposal based upon a re-valuation
of traditional architectural designs such as plans and sections. The building is based upon an abstract graphical design
which represents the look of all technical drawings of the building (plans, section, façade).
We then developed a 3d-model which showed these graphics when represented in tecnical drawings.
The building has one continuous interior space, poured into a 150x50x15m. box. In its sequence, the inside space has all
necessary qualities for the faculty to function.
The representation of the building in 2d black and white CAD-drawings deliberately confuse a first reading of the project,
forcing a much closer and more careful look. A uniform pattern of alternating Autocad-blocks
indicates the different kinds of special qualities of the building.
