Project: Colégio Fiep Londrina (2009-)
Client: FIEP
Site: Londrina, Paraná (Brazil)
Size: 5400 m²
The Londrina school is the biggest within the series of 30 colleges we developed
in colaboration with the Italian architect Alberto Sauro for FIEP, the organisation formed by
the industries of the state Paraná. It counts with 20 classrooms, 3 laboratories, 1 auditorium and a
restaurant organised around a large 3-floor high atrium with galleries, bridges, stairs and suspended squares.
The school was the first project in which we verticalized the basic concept of the FIEP-colleges.
It still counts with the prisma-shaped units (classroom, toilets, laboratories, administration) also present
in the other schools, but we reformulated the spatial diversity of the horizontal units and included bridges
and suspended squares. The rigid shape of the building when seen from the outside is opposed to the
fragmentation of the interior. The composition of the façade creates a digital industrial image,
representing the caracter of the school.
