The BrasPellet plant is a pilot project for the production of sugar-cane based pellets, a biocombustivel made of dried and compressed residue from the alcohol industry. The complex contains a factory, a research center, an administration building and an entrance building, with an architectural language that represents the high-tech characteristic of the industrial process and the ecological concern of the product. The façades show a grid that resembles sugar cane, creating a typical and easily recognizable image. The floor plan of the administration building is based upon a similar pattern of irregular lines that shapes the internal spaces, and integrates them with the landscape design. In close collaboration with the client we developed intelligent solutions reducing the impact on the environment in all levels of the project, amongst other the capture and reuse of rainwater and solar energy, internal gardens and the optimization of the use of building materials.
