Project: Benin Marina Hotel, expansion and reformation (2006-2007)

In 2006 we were invited to do two studies for the Benin Marina Hotel in Cotonou, Benin. One project presenting a study to reform the hotel and the other to extend the hotel on the beach in front. We planned 220 rooms, divided in 55 pavillions grouped together around several green patios. Thus we were able to preserve the open beach landscape, combined with the added value of opening your hotel-doors into a green forest. For the rooms we projected three pilot rooms. Each of the rooms has a slightly different color setting, based upon African landscapes and textiles that we bought on our visit. Mysteriously, the entire project was cancelled, days before the first shipment with materials for the rooms.
